Hand-Painted Faux Barn Door Coffee Table

Looking to liven up your living room? Screened porch in need of a bit of color? Or, if you just love a good conversation piece, what could be better than the table holding the snacks and refreshments?

This gorgeous faux barn door coffee table is hand-painted and truly one of a kind. Looking closely, you’ll find every color under the sun! Most prominent is the Highland Blue Milk Paint, close to a Duck Egg Blue in my opinion.

Red, White, Yellow, Brown, Gray, and even Gold glimmer through in spots for a look that says; “this door has been through some things, paint color changes and all!”

Please be aware that this is a faux barn door, it is actually a solid pine table throughout with a plywood/particleboard center. It was previously veneer-covered, which was removed from the top of the table.

The top was then stained, sealed, painted with multiple colors, and finally sealed. To learn more about the painting process, check out my blog post describing the process of How-To Paint Particle Board Furniture, as well as my post on Paint Distressing Techniques.

The linework was, in fact, chiseled out to make the wood planks of the door look more realistic. Not so deep that it would be impossible to clean, but you can feel the small divots with your fingers when you run your hand over the piece.

After painting, the top was sealed with water-based polyurethane, and finally a clear wax finish.

The base of the faux barn door table is Highland Blue Milk Paint blended with brown acrylic paint in spots. A small inset gold line goes around the entire base of the table for just a subtle added touch.

The entire table was sealed with 2 coats of clear wax and buffed for a gorgeous shine throughout.
